History and heritage in Great Smoky Mountains
Great Smoky Mountains National Park straddles the Tennessee and North Carolina line and is the most visited national park in the country. The Tennessee side has busy tourist towns and theme parks, the North Carolina side has quieter mountain towns and river rafting. Old mills, mountain music and Cherokee history are all part of the story of these hills. Many of these sites are small and worth a slow visit.
