Skiing and snow in Asheville and Southern NC Mountains
Asheville is the region's biggest city, with a lively downtown and the Biltmore Estate. Around it are Pisgah National Forest waterfalls, the highest peak in the East, and apple orchards in Henderson County. Several resorts in Virginia and North Carolina make snow and keep slopes open through the winter. Many also offer tubing for people who would rather not ski.
