Skiing and snow in North Georgia Mountains
The southern end of the Blue Ridge has lakes, trout rivers and the state's highest peak. Towns like Blue Ridge, Ellijay and Helen offer train rides, apple orchards and a Bavarian-style village. Several resorts in Virginia and North Carolina make snow and keep slopes open through the winter. Many also offer tubing for people who would rather not ski.
