Skiing and snow in Shenandoah and Central Virginia
Skyline Drive follows the crest of the ridge here, with a long string of overlooks and short trails to waterfalls. Caverns, ski slopes and the vineyards around Charlottesville are close to the Drive. Several resorts in Virginia and North Carolina make snow and keep slopes open through the winter. Many also offer tubing for people who would rather not ski.
